South Williamsport's run in the PIAA Class A football playoffs came to an end Friday.
The Mountaineers fell to Bishop Guilfoyle 28-21 in the state semi-finals.
Dominick Bragalone continued his romp through the state, rushing for 355 yards on 42 carries with three touchdowns. He finishes his career the second most prolific rusher in the United States at the high school level.
Guilfoyle struck first with 7:52 left in the opening quarter as Brandon Chadbourne scored on a 30 yard run to make it 7-0.
Then with 8:24 left in the half Bragalone scored on a 28 yard run to knot things up.
Guilfoyle then scored back to back touchdowns before the half to make it 21-7 at the half.
Late in the third quarter Bragalone rushed for 31 yards to cut it to 21-14.
With 11:50 left in the fourth quarter Chadbourne scored on a 37 yard run to make it 28-14. Just over a minute later Bragalone scored on a 64 yard run to make it 28-21 but that's as close as South got.
Chadbourne had 142 yards rushing on 15 carries for Guilfoyle while Sam McCloskey added 109 yards on 14 carries.
Also for South Matt Boone was 1-for-3 for 12 yards with an interception.
