Cowanesque Valley held CMVT scoreless in the second half in their 29-22 NTL Small School football win Saturday.
CMVT led 22-13 at the half but the Indians scored 16 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters to pull out the win.
Matt Barber had 22 carries for 163 yards and a touchdown to lead CV while Corey Wells had three touches for 56 yards and two scores.
CMVT did most of their damage in the air as Trevor Walsh was 12-for-18 for 176 yards and two touchdowns but also two picks. His top target was John Binder, who had six catches for 112 yards and two scores.
CV struck first as Seth Huyler scored on a 1-yard run. Barber's kick was good to make it 7-0.
CMVT then went on to score on back to back drives before the end of the first quarter. Welsh had a 5-yard run to paydirt with 35 seconds left. The 2-point conversion was good and the Rams led 8-7.
Then, with no time left on the clock in the first quarter, Binder caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Welsh. Sevon King ran in the 2-point conversion to give CMVT a 16-7 lead.
The Indians struck back in the second half as Barber scored on a 25-yard run. They weren't able to get the 2-point conversion but cut the lead to 16-13.
Welsh and Binder then hooked up again, this time on a 24 yard scoring play. The 2-point conversion was stuffed but CMVT extended their lead to 22-13 going into the break.
Wells then starred for CV in the second half.
In the third quarter he ran 32 yards to paydirt, then caught the 2-point conversion pass from Huyler to cut the deficit to 22-21.
Wells then put CV ahead in the fourth quarter on an 8-yard run. Huyler ran in the 2-point conversion for the 29-22 win.
Huyler was 1-for-3 with two picks and 32 yards through the air with Barber his only completion for 32 yards.
Drew Brandes had six carries for 30 yards for the Indians while Jace Bieser added two touches for 19 yards and Trenton Fousnought had three runs for 15 yards.
King led CMVT with 16 carries for 40 yards.
