The Troy Trojans began the season with a win, jumping out to a 20-0 halftime lead on their way to a 40-7 win at Bucktail.
Bailey Cohick got things started for the Trojans, scoring on a four-yard run with 1:51 left in the opening quarter. Seldon Rogers hit the extra point and it was 7-0 Troy.
Clark Jackson made it 14-0 with 9:08 left in the half when he scored on a 20-yard run and Rogers hit the extra point.
Jackson had another 20-yard touchdown run with 1:22 left in the half. The conversion failed and Troy led 20-0 at the half.
In the third quarter Zach Zimmerman scored on a 46-yard run just 1:52 into the half and Rogers hit the extra point and it was 27-0.
Ja Wallace made it 34-0 with 7:58 left in the third when he took off for a 55-yard touchdown. Rogers hit the kick.
With 5:35 left in the game Mike Casper got Bucktail on the board with a five-yard run and he hit the extra point to make it 34-7.
Troy capped the scoring with 2:11 left when Tyler Williams scored on a 15-yard run. The kick failed to make the final score.
